Day 1 - Global Fleshmapping: We are Living in the Belly of the Beast of Patriarchy
We are Living in the Belly of the Beast of Patriarchy
July 4, 2011
Women and especially Aboriginal women experience the oppressive force of the state in the form of colonialism. As well, all women face state tolerance of (inaction against) sexist violence and state economic practices and policies that exploit and impoverish women creating their vulnerability to attack.
At the same time we as a movement fighting prostitution and all violence against women ask for, lobby for, and hope for state-based protections of women (in the forms of criminal law, and state funded social programs and state managed economic policies).
In this age of neo-liberalism, tyrants colonialism and rampant capitalism how/when and on what criteria do we use governments against the sex industry?
