At 1:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(6), the House proceeded
to the consideration of Private Members' Business.
The House resumed consideration of the motion of Ms. Davies (Vancouver
East) , seconded by Mr. Robinson (BurnabyDouglas) ,
That a special committee of the House be appointed to review the
solicitation laws in order to improve the safety of sex-trade
workers and communities overall, and to recommend changes that
will reduce the exploitation of and violence against sex-trade
workers. (Private Members' Business M-192)
The debate continued.
Mr. Martin (Winnipeg Centre) , seconded by Mr. Robinson (BurnabyDouglas)
, moved the following amendment, That the motion be amended
by deleting the words a special committee of the House be
appointed and substituting the following:
the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be ordered
.
Debate arose thereon.
The question was put on the amendment and it was agreed to on
division.
The House proceeded to the putting of the question on the main
motion, as amended, of Ms. Davies (Vancouver East) , seconded
by Mr. Robinson (BurnabyDouglas) , That
the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights be ordered
to review the solicitation laws in order to improve the safety
of sex-trade workers and communities overall, and to recommend
changes that will reduce the exploitation of and violence against
sex-trade workers.
The question was put on the main motion, as amended, and it was
agreed to on division.
